We are a duo from Laferrere (Buenos Aires) Manuel Silva(33) and Leonardo Silva(21). We are bricklayers that, with some luck, finally started doing what we really like. I (Manuel) after finishing high school began studying illustration with Ariel Olivetti at the "Escuela Argentina de Historietas". It was there where i got my first wage for an illustration in which Olivetti acted as middleman. A couple years before i met, at the same place, Omar Francia and in 1996 i began inking the "Laucha" comic for the first four numbers. Then i went on inking for the "Cazador" comic together with Omar Francia, Jorge Lucas, Mauro Cascioli and Claudio Ramirez. In 2001 entered in the business my brother Leonardo. His first job was to assist me with the inks, something at which proved to be very talented and getting better with the passing years. The end of that year was in fact the start of the duo Manuel-Leonardo or Leonardo-Manuel (as you wish), when we penciled the only chapter of "El corazón del tigre " for Marvel´s "Mutant Generation" comic. During that time we never quit our work as bricklayers along with our dad (Eugenio), doing the drawing work at the end of our working hours. When "Cazador" comic reached to an end we found ourselves with no projects at hand, so we started sculpting statues based on comic characters and sold them independently to Camelot Comic Store, until Jorge Lucas called us back to help him with the "X-Force" comic for Marvel Comics Editorial. After that we kept on helping him with "Black Panther", "Wolverine", "Iron Man", "Starjammers", "Invaders", "Hulk" and actually "Colossus". Our influences are most varied (Ariel Olivetti, Adam Hughes, Travis Charest, Mignola, Frazzetta, Chichoni, Juan Gimenez and many others). At this point i want to thank Ariel Olivetti for having faith in the two of us as a team, and for recommending us once more, this time to Martin Canale (capo di tutti capi!) letting us enter into the incredible world of "Gore Group". We really hope you like our work, we´ll make our very best for that purpose. |
